The Kidde HD135F is a hardwired heat alarm designed to respond to dangerous increases in temperature rather than smoke. The alarm activates when temperatures rise above 135°F, making it useful as an additional layer of fire detection in locations where smoke alarms may be less suitable because of dust, steam, or similar environmental conditions. Kidde recommends the HD135F for many residential applications and attached garages.
Powered by 120VAC, the HD135F includes a 9V battery backup to help maintain protection during power outages. It can operate as a standalone alarm or be interconnected with compatible Kidde devices, allowing an alarm event to be communicated throughout a connected system. Kidde allows up to 24 interconnected devices, of which no more than 18 can be initiating devices such as smoke, heat, or CO alarms.
A built-in test button checks the alarm’s electronics, horn, and battery function, while the flashing red LED provides a visual indication of normal operation. The HD135F is UL Listed and backed by a 5-year limited warranty.
Important: this is a heat alarm, not a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm. It responds to temperature and should be used as part of a properly designed fire-safety system rather than as a replacement for required smoke or CO alarms.
