How It Works
The Energy Meter Reader EM-2500 installs easily on the electric breaker panel (110 Volt / 220 Volt) box and tracks the following values for the entire household, a single appliance, or sub-panel* (read definitions on Energy Monitor 101: Glossary of Terms):
- Days, hours, and minutes
- Line voltage
- Energy used in kWh
- Power in kW
- Rate in cents per kWh
- Line current (Amps)

Difference in the EM-2500 Meter Readers:
- Stationary Round Current Clips (EM-2500 SO): Requires wire disconnect, therefore installation must be done by an experienced / licensed professional; and it measures total house load or individual 110 Volt / 220 Volt circuits, such as stoves, dryers, air conditioners, pool motors, etc.
- Split-Core Current Clips (EM-2500 SP): Does not require wire disconnect, therefore installation by an experienced / licensed professional is not required, but recommended safety precautions must be followed; and it measures total house load or individual 110 Volt / 220 Volt circuits such as stoves, dryers, air conditioners, pool motors, etc.

For Sub-Metering of Distinct Spaces: The unique sub-metering feature can measure energy consumption a sub-panel such as:

- Boat slips in marinas
- Vacation homes (beach) or campgrounds
- Apartment buildings without individual meters
In case of Power Loss: It can also function as a generator kW monitor

How to Install
The Energy Meter Reader EM-2500 installs easily on the electric breaker panel (110 Volt / 220 Volt) box.
- Users simply install the unit to the main circuit breaker either using stationary round clips or split-core clips:
- Round Current Clips (EM-2500 SO) must be installed by an experienced / licensed professional
- Split-Core Clips (EM-2500 SP) does not have to be installed by an experience / license professional, but all recommended safety precautions have to be followed in detail
- Set the rate
- Press the reset button to start measuring electric consumption in kilowatt hours (kWh)
